The StudentWeb is an interactive intranet for Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary's students, alums, faculty and advisors, by which:
- students can enroll in classes, view/print their course schedules, update their personal information, view/print their unofficial transcript, purchase an official transcript, pay their student account balance, and make an online donation;
- alums can update their personal information, submit news-notes for the alums monthly newsletter, search for contact information for fellow alums, view/print their unofficial transcript, purchase an official transcript, and make an online donation;
- faculty can approve special enrollment into one of their classes, view/print their teaching schedule, view/print the list of students in a class, bulk email all students in a class, assign student grades at the end of term, and make an online donation;
- advisors can approve an advisee's pre-registration enrollment, email their advisees in bulk or individually, and make an online donation.
VIA used the basic student portal that came with Garrett's campus-wide SQL Server application, Jenzabar EX, as the foundation to tie the StudentWeb transactions directly into the campus wide system – meaning, for instance, when a student enrolls online, Garrett staff can see that enrollment immediately from the registrar's desktop software.
Online Purchase, Payment, and Donation
VIA built an electronic funds transfer system for the StudentWeb that securely processes student account payments, official transcript purchases, and online gifts or donations. We also added the online donations feature to Garrett's public website.
