Garrett-Evangelical is a graduate school of theology of The United Methodist Church, located on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Using a design created by the seminary's staff, VIA built a robust website with:
- over 400 pages of content (not counting the handbook and course offerings);
- two search engines, one for keywords and the second for full-text;
- an online admissions application, connected to Garrett's offline admissions software, which enables applicants to submit an application, pay the application fee, upload required documents, and track the ongoing status of their application;
- streaming audio and video (for lecture series and promotional videos);
- bulletin boards, chat rooms, and photo slide shows.
We also created an extensive intranet for Garrett's students, alums, and faculty to register for classes, make payments, assign class grades, give donations, etc.
Content Management System
The CMS we built enables the seminary's non-technical staff to:
- add, remove, and arrange the menu and submenu groups;
- add and remove web pages, assign each page its author, keywords, and expiration date, and insert new pages into one or more menu or submenu groups;
- update the content on web pages, including text, images and PDF documents;
- add, remove, and update home page photos, news box items, and press releases;
- add, remove and manage the bulletin boards and chat rooms;
- process and maintain the online admissions applications.
